What Is iTero® Element™?
The conventional impressions involve messy molds, and the procedures can take up to twenty minutes, which many patients find uncomfortable and time-consuming. The state-of-the-art iTero® Element™ utilizes a small hand-held applicator to scan your oral structures in as little as two minutes. Digital impressions are practical and convenient for a wide range of general, cosmetic, and restorative treatments, specifically for Invisalign®. With an in-depth, 3D imaging of your teeth, the iTero® Element™ can generate plans for a series of orthodontic aligner trays that decrease treatment time and deliver perfect results. Additionally, the iTero® Element™ technology can show you a computer-generated image of how the Invisalign® treatment will improve your smile once you have completed the therapy.
Traditional Vs. Digital Impressions
The iTero® Element™ Intraoral Scanner eliminates the discomfort, gagging, and errors associated with the traditional molds and putty impressions. Our dentist, Dr. Jacob Robichaux, can take highly accurate digital impressions by using this technology. The old technique is hugely unpleasant and involves taking several rounds of impressions that can be inaccurate, broken, or misplaced. The iTero scanner will ensure more precise impressions to give you comfortable and improved dental treatments. Digital impressions also allow you to view your teeth instantly in 3D, improving communication during the consultation and treatment.
How Does the iTero® Element™ Work?
The iTero scanner digitally captures the oral structures comprising the teeth and gums using the latest visual technology. The scanner is a compact, hand-held wand. Once Dr. Jacob Robichaux begins the scanning process, it can be stopped and started as often as required.
Your mouth is scanned. The scanner delivers a digitally perfect, 3D impression of your teeth and soft tissue structures in a matter of a few minutes. Through digital software, you will be able to follow the progress of the scans, including 3D images of your teeth on our computer monitors. The iTero scanner can be employed for any orthodontic treatment, including Invisalign®.
